Mr. Robathan: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what plans he has to encourage competitive sport within schools. [91360] Ms Bridget Prentice: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what contribution the national lottery is making to encourage the playing of competitive sporting fixtures in schools. [91365] Mr. Banks: We are well aware of the value of encouraging competitive games both within and between schools. As well as being one of the criteria schools have to meet to be awarded a Sportsmark, we have asked Sport England to ensure that arranging inter-school competitive fixtures is a key part of the job description of the new Active Schools Co-ordinators. This initiative will be supported by £30 million from the Lottery Sports Fund.
