- To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what the policy of Her Majesty's Government is towards Montenegran aspirations for more independence from Serbia.
- Answer
-
Mr. Blunt: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what the policy of Her Majesty's Government are towards Montenegrin aspirations for more independence from Serbia. [96495] Mr. Vaz: We hope that an acceptable compromise can be reached between Montenegro and Serbia which addresses Montenegro's legitimate aspirations. Clearly it is more likely that negotiations will succeed when President Milosevic's regime has been replaced by democratic government in Serbia.
