Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy towards maintenance of an EU arms embargo against Libya.

Answer: Mr. Bercow: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy towards maintenance of an EU arms embargo against Libya. [95250] Mr. Hain: Libya has taken a number of important steps towards reintegration with the international community, not least of which was the handing over for trial of the two Libyans accused of involvement in the Lockerbie bombing. In recognition of these developments, the UN has suspended its sanctions against Libya. The EU, with UK support, has lifted most of its own sanctions, but decided, for now, to retain the arms embargo. EU member states will review this decision regularly.
