Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, what plans he has to introduce legislation for compulsory proofing of premises against birds; and if he will make a statement. - Inc ref to Public Health Act 1961, Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Answer: Mr. Galbraith: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what plans he has to introduce legislation for compulsory proofing of premises against birds; and if he will make a statement. [94454] Ms Beverley Hughes: Local authorities already have powers to deal with bird nuisance through a variety of measures including the Public Health Act 1961, the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990. The Government has no plans to introduce further legislation.
