Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, when he expects to announce his decisions on implementing the recommendations contained in the Urban Task Force Report; and if he will make a statement.

Answer: Ms Oona King: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions when he expects to announce his decisions on implementing the recommendations contained in the Urban Task Force report; and if he will make a statement. [93300] Mr. Meale: The Urban Task Force's recommendations, set out in its report "Towards an Urban Renaissance", published on 29 June 1999, are currently being considered by Government. The Urban White Paper will provide the main vehicle for the Government's response. It may be appropriate to address some individual recommendations on a different timescale. On 30 June 1999, Liverpool Vision was launched as a pilot for the Task Force's recommendation on the creation of Urban Regeneration Companies. East Manchester have been invited to submit a proposal to be a further pilot for the recommendation.
