Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, what is his estimate of the GDP per capita of the West Wales and the Valleys Objective 1 area status as a percentage of (a) the United Kingdom average and (b) the European Union average. - Includes figures.

Answer: Mr. Rowlands: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is his estimate of the GDP per capita of the West Wales and the Valleys Objective 1 area status as a percentage of (a) the United Kingdom average and (b) the European Union average. [92924] Mr. Hain: According to figures released by Eurostat, GDP per capita of the West Wales and the Valleys area during the period 1994-1996 was estimated to be: (a) 72 per cent. of the UK average (b) 71 per cent. of the European Union average.
