Mr. Bercow: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer of 31 October 2000, Official Report, column 425W, how many representations he has received (a) supporting and (b) opposing the civil registration of homosexual and lesbian relationships. [137997] Mr. Mike O'Brien: Since May 1997, we have received 37 representations supporting, and 10 representations opposing civil registration. These were predominantly from individual members of the public rather than from campaigning organisations.
