Answer: Mr. Jenkin: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what the start date is for construction works on the upgrade of the Great Western Main Line cited on page 47 of his Department's Ten-Year Plan. [133503] Mr. Hill: The upgrade options which Railtrack has set out in its Network Management Statement, and the timetable for taking them forward, will be developed in discussions between Railtrack, the shadow Strategic Rail Authority, and the train operators, in the light of consultation with appropriate industry stakeholders.
