Dr. Brand: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how the findings of the Health Advisory Service 2000 report, "Not Because They Are Old", will be reflected in the development of improvement programmes. [65325] Mr. Denham: A Health Service Circular (HSC1998/220) issued in November 1998 to all chief executives of health authorities and National Health Service trusts, along with a copy of the report "Not Because They Are Old" required chief executives of health authorities, in partnership with colleagues in NHS trusts and social services, to ensure that the findings of the report are considered when preparing Joint Investment Plans for older people. These Joint Investment Plans will be included in local Health Improvement Programmes which will include both national and local priorities.
