Answer: Mr. Burstow: To ask the Secretary of State for Health when he plans to make an announcement on the implementation of universal neonatal hearing screening following the recommendations by the National Screening Committee. [117609] Yvette Cooper: [holding answer 6 April 2000]: I expect to receive the United Kingdom National Screening Committee's proposals on implementing a universal neonatal hearing screening programme shortly. These will include details of the organisational and human resource implications of the proposed changes. I will make an announcement in due course.
