Mr. Gordon Prentice: To ask the President of the Council what recent discussions she has had with the chairman of the House of Lords Appointments Commission on giving rejected applicants for a people's peerage the reasons for their rejection if the applicant so requests. [159334] Mr. Tipping: None. The Appointments Commission is an independent body and Ministers do not interfere in the way it conducts its business within its terms of reference.
