To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, in respect of the unitary development plan process (a) what review he has undertaken of the process since 1989, (b) what potential improvements he has identified and (c) how these will be incorporated in guidance to local authorities.

Mr. Truswell: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions in respect of the unitary development plan process (a) what review he has undertaken of the process since 1989, (b) what potential improvements he has identified and (c) how these will be incorporated in guidance to local authorities. [12527] Ms Keeble: I shall be issuing a Green Paper shortly setting out proposals for comprehensive reform of the planning system.
