Answer: Mr. Gordon Prentice: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many golden hellos and golden handcuffs are being offered to doctors (a) practising and (b) encouraged to practice in (i) Pendle and (ii) the East Lancashire health authority area; and if he will make a statement. [159380] Mr. Denham: East Lancashire health authority has received a number of expressions of interest in "golden hellos" and is awaiting further information about the scheme. The final details are subject to consultation with the British Medical Association and these will be circulated when confirmed.
