Dept of Health

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, if he will make it his policy to provide free prescription charges for people on incapacity benefit.
Answer

Mr. Oaten: To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make it his policy to provide free prescription charges for people on Incapacity Benefit. [158234] Ms Stuart: No. Incapacity Benefit is not income related and it would not, therefore, be appropriate to extend automatic exemption from prescription charges to recipients of this benefit.
