Question: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what the value was of exports of pig and sheepmeat in the last year; and what he estimates the value to be in the first year following the end of the outbreak. - Inc figures. (Holding answer 10 April 2001).

Answer: Mr. Flynn: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what the value was of exports of pig and sheepmeat in the last year; and what he estimates the value to be in the first year following the end of the outbreak. [157785] Ms Quin: [holding answer 10 April 2001]: In 2000 the value of exports of pigmeat was £186 million and of sheepmeat was £200 million. We hope that, once they resume, exports will steadily return to comparable levels.
