Answer: Mr. Hilary Benn: To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department how many people have received legal aid in respect of claims under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. [157234] Mr. Lock: In the 11 months from 1 April 2000 to 28 February 2001, two certificates were issued for people to receive legal representation in court cases under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. It is not possible to identify the number of people who have received other levels of publicly funded legal service under the Disability Discrimination Act, as no specific case category exists on the computer system that records these types of work.
