- To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, how many farmers have made applications for funds from the organic farming scheme; and how many of those applications have been successful in each phase of the scheme since it began. - Figures given.

Mr. Breed: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many farmers have made applications for funds from the organic farming scheme; and how many of those applications have been successful in each phase of the scheme since it began. [157161] Mr. Morley: Between the organic farming scheme opening on 6 April 1999 and it closing for review on 30 November, 1,270 valid applications were received. Since the scheme re-opened on 2 January this year around 600 further valid applications have been received.
