Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, If he will make a statement on progress towards a reduction in hospital acquired infections. (Failed OPQ).

Answer: Mr. Andrew Mitchell: To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement on progress towards a reduction in hospital acquired infections. [75379] Ms Blears: A number of actions are already under way to help reduce infections, and analysis of infection control returns shows improved performance over the last two years. However, further work is needed, and we are working with key stakeholders to develop a targeted action plan for health care associated infection as part of our strategy to combat infectious diseases.
