Answer: Mr. McWilliam: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the work of his Department's Active Community Unit. [64762] Mr. Wills: The Active Community Unit leads a cross Government effort to promote civil renewal, to encourage active citizenship, and to build constructive partnerships between Government and the voluntary and community sector. It has lead responsibility for the Government's target of making substantial progress towards one million more people being actively involved in their communities by 2004.
