Statement on when the Government will submit its first report on implementation of the Council of Europe Charter for regional or minority languages.
Answer

Geraldine Smith: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when the Government will submit its first report on implementation of the Council of Europe Charter for regional or minority languages. [69419] Mr. MacShane: I am pleased to announce that the report was submitted to the Council of Europe on 1 July. The report details the measures taken by the Government and the devolved Administrations to fulfil the UK's obligations under the Charter for Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, Irish, Scots and Ulster-Scots. Copies of the report have been placed in the Library of the House.
