- Whether, owing to the difficulties experienced by the Meat Hygiene Service in recruiting official veterinary officers to service abattoirs in remote areas, it is fair that some small abattoirs should be required to pay a higher hourly rate for their official veterinary surgeons, plus travelling time, than abattoirs in more accessible locations.
