Mr. Cohen: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the property owned by the Metropolitan Police Force which is currently for sale; what representations he has received on such sales; and if he will make a statement. My right hon. Friend the Home Secretary has received several letters from Mrs. Burgess, and from an hon. Member on her behalf, about the proposed closure of Chislehurst Police Station. The Receiver tells me that in addition: "as to 28-30 High Street, Wanstead, following public objections to the sale of the site for redevelopment, a public inquiry took place in December 1998. The proposed purchaser's planning application has now been rejected; as to Manchester Road, Isle of Dogs, local residents are objecting to the sale of land adjoining a police office, for housing development; and as to 23-24 Station Road and 1-11 Rosslyn Crescent, Harrow, the members of a mosque adjoining the site have objected to the sale of land to a housing association by open tender as they wish to acquire the site for a mosque."
