Mr. Gordon Prentice: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will assess the advantages and disadvantages of putting CID officers into uniform for part of the working week. [68052] Mr. Boateng: It is an operational matter for chief constables whether they make provision available for transfer of officers between Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and uniform duties, and the rotation of staff within specialisms, to allow for career development leading to a wider experience of policing.
