Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many inmates at Styal Womens' Prison are receiving treatment for drug addiction.

Answer: Mr. George Osborne: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many inmates at Styal Women's Prison are receiving treatment for drug addiction. [25492] Beverley Hughes: Treatment provision at Styal can be divided into three components. On average, about 50 prisoners each month receive detoxification treatment and, on average, about 40 CARAT (counselling, assessment, advice, referral and throughcare services) assessments are undertaken each month. Prisoners requiring intensive treatment for moderate to severe drug misuse are transferred to another prison where such programmes are available.
