- To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many pensioners have decided not to change over to payment of their pensions into bank accounts or Post Office Card Accounts. - Including figures and fact that key figures on the progress of conversion to direct payment are available in the Library updated every four weeks.

Mr. Drew: To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many pensioners have decided not to change over to payment of their pensions into bank accounts or Post Office card accounts. [144288] Mr. Pond: As at 14 November 2003, over 1.3 million Pension Service customers have been invited to convert to direct payment. Of these, only 2.98 per cent. (39,016) have actively indicated that, at this stage, payment into a bank, building society or Post Office card account is not their preferred option. Key figures on the progress of conversion to direct payment are available in the Library updated every four weeks.
