Answer: Mr. Lidington: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how many emergency purchase orders were issued by her Department and the former Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food during the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in 2001. [136821] Alun Michael: Information held centrally shows that, 12,600 emergency purchase orders were issued by the Department and the former Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food during the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in 2001.
