- To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, how many (a) boys and (b) girls have reached the required standards of (i) English and (ii) mathematics at Key stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 in each year since 1997, broken down by local education authority. - Including fact that the information rquested has been placed in Library (Dep 03/1991).

Mr. Damian Green: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills how many (a) boys and (b) girls have reached the required standards of (i) English and (ii) mathematics at Key stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 in each year since 1997, broken down by local education authority. [127922] Mr. Miliband: The information requested has been placed in the Library. The tables show, for each local education authority, the number of boys and girls in maintained schools who achieved the expected level in each year from 1997 to 2002. The figures shown are based on: Pupils achieving level 2 or above at Key Stage 1 in reading and in maths. Pupils achieving level 4 or above at Key Stage 2 in English and in maths. Pupils achieving level 5 or above at Key Stage 3 in English and in maths. Pupils achieving good grades (A*-C) at GCSE in English and in maths.
