To ask the Deputy Prime Minister, how many abandoned motor vehicles were collected in the district of Easington in (a) 2000-01 and (b) 2002-03; and what the cost was to the local authority. - Includes table for numbers of abandoned vehicles for 2000/01 and 2001/02

Mr. Cummings: To ask the Deputy Prime Minister how many abandoned motor vehicles were collected in the district of Easington in (a) 2000-01 and (b) 2002-03; and what the cost was to the local authority. [114714] Mr. Meacher: I have been asked to reply. The question on abandoned vehicles was asked for first time in the 2000-01 Municipal Waste Management Survey. The numbers of abandoned vehicles reported by Easington district council are listed as follows: _________________________________________________________________________________________________. Easington 2000-01 14 2001-02 24 _________________________________________________________________________________________________. The Department does not collect information on costs. Data for 2002-03 are not yet available.
