Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment was made of the economic regeneration impact of the SRA's recent decision to cut cross country services to Liverpool in the 2003 summer and autumn timetable.

Answer: Mrs. Ellman: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment was made of the economic regeneration impact of the SRA's recent decision to cut cross country services to Liverpool in the 2003 summer and autumn timetable. [115466] Mr. Jamieson: The timetable changes were driven by the need to improve performance urgently in the interests of passengers. The principal passenger flows to and from Liverpool, from which principal economic benefits are derived, will continue to be served by through trains with improving reliability.
