Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what planning policy and regional guidance will be issued to local authorities with regard to the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive.
Answer

Mr. Sayeed: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what planning policy and regional guidance will be issued to local authorities with regard to the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive. [91930] Mr. Morley: Planning policy is for my right hon. Friend the Deputy Prime Minister. Planning policy guidance note, (PPG) 25 Development and flood risk, already makes reference to the requirements of the Water Framework Directive. In addition, PPG 23 Planning and pollution control, is currently being revised and it will also make appropriate reference. We are considering whether anything further will be required as regards the implications for planning of the Water Framework Directive.
