Question: To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Department for Constitutional Affairs, what assessment he has made of the consequences for court time and costs of making prenuptial agreements binding.

Answer: Dr. Kumar: To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Department for Constitutional Affairs what assessment he has made of the consequences for court time and costs of making prenuptial agreements binding. [205463] Mr. Lammy: No assessment has been made. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that pre-nuptial agreements are rarely an issue in ancillary relief cases. It is, therefore, doubtful that any savings in court time or costs would be significant.
