To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, how much of the Government's Post Office Modernisation Fund has been spent in Leicester since the fund was initiated; and how much has been spent (a) to keep post offices open and (b) to encourage closure; how many post offices have closed in Leicester in each year since 1979. - Inc fact that Post Office will write.

Mr. Gill: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) how much of the Government's Post Office Modernisation Fund has been spent in Leicester since the fund was initiated; and how much has been spent (a) to keep post offices open and (b) to encourage closure; [198659] (2) how many post offices have closed in Leicester in each year since 1979. [198663] Mr. Sutcliffe: Implementation of the urban post office network reinvention programme is an operational matter for Post Office Limited. I have therefore asked the Chief Executive to respond direct to the hon. Member.
