Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many prosecutions the Counter Fraud and Security Management Service and its predecessor the NHS Counter Fraud Service brought against bank and agency nursing staff for timesheet fraud since September 1998. - Inc figures. Answer: Mr. Baron: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many prosecutions the Counter Fraud and Security Management Service and its predecessor the NHS Counter Fraud Service brought against bank and agency nursing staff for timesheet fraud since September 1998. [196435] Mr. Hutton: [holding answer 8 November 2004]: Since 1998, we have investigated a number of cases of suspected timesheet fraud by both bank and agency staff. These investigations have resulted in 39 criminal prosecutions. Additionally, during the same period there have been two prosecutions for false identity by a bank member of staff and for obtaining a pecuniary advantage by an agency member of staff.
