Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will make a statement on recent discussions with the Argentinian government in relation to the future of the Falkland Islands.

Answer: Mr. Simmonds: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on recent discussions with the Argentinean Government in relation to the future of the Falkland Islands. [193464] Mr. Rammell: My right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary met Argentine Foreign Minister Bielsa during the United Nations General Assembly on 22 September. They discussed a variety of issues including those relating to the Falkland Islands. The Foreign Secretary made clear that the UK has no doubts about its sovereignty over the Falkland Islands and the surrounding maritime area, and that we will not negotiate on sovereignty unless and until the Islanders wish that.
