Mr. Hume: To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if the Government will make the necessary investments to upgrade the present rail service connecting the main cities of the north west region. [184150] Mr. Spellar: A consultation process in relation to the future investment needs of the Northern Ireland Railways Network is ongoing and the comments and views expressed will be taken into account as priorities are established and decided as part of the 2004 Spending Review.
