Mr. Bercow: To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of anti-drugs programmes in Tanzania. [171694] Hilary Benn: We are not currently funding anti-drugs programmes since these are not a priority for the Government of Tanzania. Therefore we have made no assessment of the effectiveness of anti-drugs programmes in Tanzania. The focus of our assistance to is on supporting the Government to implement their Poverty Reduction Strategy, now in its third year of operation. 75 per cent. of our development funding (£60 million in 2003) is now allocated directly to Government budgets for this purpose.
