Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, what range of prices for carbon is being included in her Department's forward energy projections from 2005 onwards, with reference to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme. - Inc figures.

Answer: Norman Baker: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what range of prices for carbon is being included in her Department's forward energy projections from 2005 onwards, with reference to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme. [167765] Mr. Timms: We have considered a range for the price of a carbon emission allowance from è5 per tonne to è25 per tonne of carbon dioxide (tCO2) for our forward energy projections and other work related to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS). We expect the carbon price to be towards the lower end of the range. EU ETS carbon allowances are currently trading at about è7 per tonne of CO2, albeit on low sales volumes.
