Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what discussions he has had with the Government of Chad over the level of forced migration into Chad from the Sudan.

Answer: Mr. Drew: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions he has had with the Government of Chad over the level of forced migration into Chad from the Sudan. [160185] Mr. Mullin: Our embassy in Khartoum has discussed the conflict in Darfur with the Chadian embassy in Khartoum. We are also in close contact with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva and their field teams in eastern Chad. The Department for International Development is one of the largest donors to UNHCR operations in Chad for Sudanese refugees, having provided £1 million in October 2003 in response to the initial US$16 million appeal.
