Answer: Norman Baker: To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make it his policy to ensure that district nurses are informed that a patient discharged from hospital contracted MRSA while in hospital. [210275] Miss Melanie Johnson: Current professional guidance already recommends that general practitioners and other health service workers involved in the care of patients with methicillin resistant "Staphylococcus aureus" infection and colonisation should be informed when they are being discharged.
