Answer

Mr. McLoughlin: To ask the Secretary of State for Health which primary care trusts provide the drug Ebixa for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. [210377] Ms Rosie Winterton: Memantine hydrochloride (Ebixa) is licensed for treating moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. In 2003-04, memantine (Ebixa) was dispensed in the community in England in 265 primary care trusts. This treatment is usually provided under the supervision of hospital-based specialists, so community dispensing information does not give a complete picture of national health service use;
