Mr. Willetts: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what GDP per hour worked in the UK has been on a constant price basis in each year since 1979. [210606] Mr. Timms: The information requested falls within the responsibility of the National Statistician. I have asked him to reply. Letter from Colin Mowl to Mr. David Willetts, dated 26 January 2005: The National Statistician has been asked to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question on the levels of constant price GDP per hour worked in the UK in each year since 1979.1 am replying in his absence. (210606) The National Statistics measure of output per hour uses Gross Value Added rather than Gross Domestic Product as the numerator. The table below shows the index of whole economy GVA per hour from 1993, which is when the hours series is available from.
