- Since 2000 the Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and its predecessors have invested around £150 million in a programme of Government sponsored equity funds, providing support to over 800 small businesses. This report will assess whether the equity funds were well designed and consistent with BIS’s objectives; how well the department has managed the funds; and if the performance of the funds met with BIS’s objectives
