Proceeding contribution from Richard Burden (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 14 June 2005. It occurred during Adjournment debate on MG Rover.
MG Rover
: I have had my turn and I do not want to take up a lot of time, but the hon. Lady referred to the 2000 Hansard, and I have a copy of that. Her comment in response to the Secretary of State's statement was:"““The news that the bid is going ahead is extremely welcome and heartening for the 1,500 workers in my constituency employed at Longbridge.””—[Official Report, 9 May 2000; Vol. 349, c. 652.]" She was also reported in The Herald on 10 May as follows:"““Bromsgrove MP, Julie Kirkbride, said the news was ‘heartening'. Last week the situation looked ‘incredibly bleak', she said. ‘Now we have a great deal of hope. People know that we are not out of the woods yet, but there has been a major step forward today.””"
