Proceeding contribution from Lord Sainsbury of Turville (Labour) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 19 July 2005. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on Civil Partnership Act 2004 (Overseas Relationships and Consequential etc Amendments) Order 2005.

Civil Partnership Act 2004 (Overseas Relationships and Consequential, etc. Amendments) Order 2005

The noble Lord, Lord de Mauley, asked how many couples had registered. The answer at this point is none. The Civil Partnership Act comes into force in December this year, so no couples have registered yet. Although the order appears detailed, it does no more than make consequential and supplementary amendments. I commend it to the Committee. On Question, Motion agreed to.
