Proceeding contribution from Nick Palmer (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 18 October 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill on Identity Cards Bill.
Identity Cards Bill
: In the one minute remaining, I would like to celebrate the fact that the Bill is finally introducing the provisions of the private Member’s Bill that I introduced five years ago. The Government would have saved a lot of time if they had accepted that Bill. The British people see the common sense of this Bill. They welcome it because they can see that it will make ordinary people safer, and they cannot see why the Opposition are against it.
