Proceeding contribution from Andrew George (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 23 November 2005. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Local and Regional Government.
Local and Regional Government
: I thank the hon. Gentleman for his intervention. It is helpful, but it is also worth pointing out that on that same occasion, when the Deputy Prime Minister was answering questions following his statement, he went on to say in answer to my question on democratically accountable regional government:"““I am not giving up, and I hope that I do not give that impression.””—[Official Report, 8 November 2004; Vol. 426, c. 603.]" He said that and yet since that time we have had a complete vacuum.
