European Forest Institute (Legal Capacities) Order 2005

I am grateful to both the noble Baroness and the noble Lord for their comments. In one case they were straightforwardly supportive, which I greatly appreciate, and in the other case, with one or two words of caution, they were broadly supportive. There may be many bodies in Europe; I suppose I am quite encouraged, in a personal sense, to feel that serious research on forestry and the replenishment of the environment is being done by one of those bodies. I understand about making sure that they are located in places where people can reasonably work. However, this is a research institution and it will probably work in the middle of the research environment most relevant to it. As I went through the background briefing material, I noted that one of the great centres in the United Kingdom for such research, which will co-operate with this body, is at Bangor. I make no comment about remoteness or otherwise which could offend anybody who may hail from Bangor or hold it deep in their heart, but while the University of Wales at Bangor is probably not close to any of the international schools of the leading academics working in forestry, it is probably the right place.
