Proceeding contribution from Baroness Scotland of Asthal (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 19 December 2005. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Identity Cards Bill.

Identity Cards Bill

I do not think that it is intended to be. I said that I would look at the first half of the noble Lord’s amendment, which says,"““the uses to which information recorded in the Register is being put””." I very much understood the way in which the noble Lord argued it. As it is arguable, the amendment could be seen as the other half of Clause 24(2)(d). I do not think it is—I think it is fine—but the noble Lord has raised a point and it is worth looking at to ensure that we have dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s.
