Proceeding contribution from Peter Bone (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 18 January 2006. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Parish Councils (Planning).

Parish Councils (Planning)

The hon. Gentleman has secured an important debate. The number of Members in the Chamber for an Adjournment debate shows how successful he has been and how important it is. This morning, I had a phone call from Councillor Stephen North, who is the leader of Rushden town council in my constituency. It is the second biggest town in the constituency, with a population of 32,000. He firmly believes that if more planning powers were given to the town council it would be more efficient and more accountable.
