Proceeding contribution from Lord Hodgson of Astley Abbotts (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 30 January 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Company Law Reform Bill [HL] 2005-06.
Company Law Reform Bill [HL]
I find that strange. It seems to me that even a small company, the smallest company, having been told by the registrar that it is failing to comply, by not complying it has asked for—I use the vulgar phrase—the book to be thrown at it. If that is the Government’s view we will withdraw the amendment and reflect further on it, but I am surprised at the relative level that the Government wish to stick to. I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. [Amendment No. 22 not moved.] Clause 28 agreed to. Clause 29 [Existing companies: provisions of memorandum treated as provisions of articles]:
